Medical Professional Health Program

Physicians and other healthcare workers often experience tremendous stresses in their lives, both at work and at home. The Medical Professionals Health Program (MPHP), a program of the Maine Medical Association, begin in 1987 to provide monitoring and advocacy services to medical professionals struggling with addiction, substance abuse or mental health challenges. This confidential program can help physicians find treatment and other resources to facilitate continuation or return to safe practice.

MPHP can help. Call today.

The MPHP works cooperatively with six Maine boards of licensure, hospitals, medical staffs, and professional associations to ensure that professionals in need of treatment and services get the help they need.  The MPHP is not a treatment program, but our staff will help professionals to find the resources they need, to better understand the treatment and recovery process, and to implement strategies for return to safe practice.
